you must take care of your inner world
Whether it be a personal crisis or a global one, every facet of our life gets negatively impacted by it. Because of this, it gets easier to feel overwhelmed and fall in the trap of stress and anxiety. To feel a sense of powerlessness.
While some of us start harboring the victim mindset and get paralyzed and stuck, others try to escape these feelings by getting “busy” and running around like a headless chicken, only to feel burned out in the end.
Feeling overwhelmed is a part of life and we all go through it at some point or another. But we always have a choice, either we can let it affect us, or we can take charge and tackle it in a mindful and healthy way.
While we may be tempted to address the external things first when we feel out of control, a better strategy is to focus on our inner world — our thoughts, our feelings and our emotions.
We must take an inventory of ourselves, specifically our mental and emotional health.
It’s good to take a pause and ask yourself, “What’s causing me stress and why I’m feeling overwhelmed?” Write down everything that’s bothering you. This will help you download all the negativity and anxiety you’re feeling on a crisp sheet of paper, and once you have the problems captured and laid out, you can work towards figuring out their root causes and solving them.
Once you’re done with that, make a list of all the things that you think drain energy from you, and then the ones that you find fulfilling and energizing. Now you have a customized plan to minimize or eliminate the energy-zapping tasks and focus primarily on those that bring you meaning and joy. Essentially, your main goal is to prioritize doing things that make you feel good.
The more you focus on self-care and your mental and emotional well-being and do the things that make you truly happy, the more you feel connected to your true self.
Alignment is the name of the game. Without it, you’ll always feel empty and overwhelmed. This is why you have to get your inner world right if you want to succeed and thrive in the external one.
