using your tithe as a backup emergency fund
I watched this video today and it made me quite emotional and I involuntarily started crying in the middle of it. We’ve all been through times when we want to give a certain percentage of our income towards charity, but we can’t because we have some more pressing personal expenses that need to be taken care of first. This might make us feel guilty and sad. That we’re being selfish and putting ourselves first. But during those times, it’s wise to take the weight off our shoulders and remind ourselves that we’re children of the Lord, and He won’t be mad if we prioritize taking care of ourselves over giving it away for some cause.
There’s a phrase, an adage actually, that I absolutely love: God helps those who help themselves. You’ve got to take care of yourself first. You’ve got to rescue yourself first. God will keep loving you no matter what.
I couldn’t help but share this beautiful video and insight in today’s post. I hope it brings a sense of relief and inner peace to you, especially if you find yourself in similar circumstances as this caller.
