the quickest way to feel unstuck
It’s normal to feel stuck whether it be at work, in your finances, in relationships, or life in general.
Tony Robbins, bestselling author, entrepreneur and life strategist, says that there are two things that mainly keep us anchored and prevent us from moving ahead: our mental state and our belief system.
“When you’re pissed off, frustrated, sad, depressed, overwhelmed—you can’t fight your way out of a paper bag. Because in that state, you’re not resourceful.” Robbins explains. “If you are feeling playful or creative or passionate or driven or hungry or grateful, you get a whole different set of insights and thoughts.”
He further adds, “The fastest way to change your state is not with your mind, it’s with your body,” he says. “When you do that, you’ll get out of the funk in two minutes. But if you sit here and try to think yourself out of it, people get circular thoughts.”
So, whenever you feel stuck and find it difficult to let go of negative thoughts, just get physically active and start moving around. Go for a walk in your neighborhood, work out at the gym, do some yoga, or simply dance to your favorite songs at home. In this way, you’ll not only be moving your body but you’ll also be changing and re-calibrating your mental state.
Another effective strategy to prime yourself so that you’re able to snap out of your negative state physically and change how you feel is to tweak your body language. Standing tall, keeping your spine erect, and practicing power poses can help you feel positive emotions again and get you unstuck. Your body language — the way you breathe, the way you stand, the way you walk, the way you interact with others — can play a significant role in changing your outlook.
