moments of comfort
Today morning, as the air got chilly, I got into my blanket while I was half-asleep. I embraced the warmth and after some time I felt an unimaginable comfort. I relished this sweet bliss and felt the kind of comfort that I haven’t felt in a long time. I enjoyed and embraced the juiciness of those moments. But then, as I felt I had slept enough and as I felt my wake up time was coming up, I prepared myself to get out of the sheets and consequently began my day. Although the comfort was an enjoyable experience, I found inside me a sweet detachment. I had experienced the pinnacle of it and now it was time to let it go, get moving and start my day.
Along with acquainting ourselves with discomfort and making experiencing it a habit, we also need to discipline ourselves to enjoy moments of utmost comfort. We need time to feel the sweetness of life as well, as we face the different experiences and occasional challenges that it throws at us. Once we indulge in these moments and experience them fully, it gets easier for us to detach from them completely. Like all things, we need to find meaning in our comfort as well. We don’t have to be reckless and go overboard, but we need to appreciate the small moments of comfort that life brings to us.
There’s no shame in pursuing comfort and you don’t have to feel guilty about it. On the contrary, it further helps you in living a satisfied life. Find ways to make yourself comfortable and when time comes also build the habit of letting comfort go.
Comfort will bring more gratitude and appreciation in your life and help you recover, rejuvenate and re-energize. Comfort yourself when the need is there. Alter your pace, alter your space. Life is not only about fighting a good fight but it’s also about taking breaks to experience the sweetness that it offers us consistently.
