don’t let the desire for riches enter your heart
If you want to build extraordinary wealth, you must cultivate a burning desire within you for riches. The object, as Napoleon Hill outlines in the book Think and Grow Rich is to want money and become so determined to have it that you convince yourself you will have it. He remarks, “Only those who become ‘money conscious’ ever accumulate great riches.”
He further explains, “‘Money consciousness’ means that the mind has become so thoroughly saturated with the desire for money that one can see one’s self already in possession of it.”
Essentially, we must magnetize our minds with an intense desire for riches, that propels us to create definite plans for acquiring it.
However, as we pursue this journey of accumulating great riches, we must also make sure that we only let the desire for wealth reside in our head, and not let it enter our hearts.
In other words, we must work towards developing “money consciousness,” while making sure that we don’t cultivate “money conscience.” I hope you can see the difference between the two.
The love of money makes us ignoble and corrupt. Bringing incredible wealth into our lives yet remaining healthily detached from it is the way to go.
