cultivating a divine glow
As per ancient Hindu texts, Hanuman, as a child, spent a great deal of time in the proximity of the sun. First, while he attempted to swallow the sun as an infant, and then later during his education when the Sun God Surya became his teacher. Due to this, sunshine had a significant influence on his body, giving his skin a golden color.
This was enhanced even more when Hanuman met Lord Rama and began his journey along with the Vaanara army to the south in search of Sita. As he started uttering the holy name of Rama repeatedly, all malicious intents and pernicious forces within him dissolved into thin air and he developed an unwavering positivity along with an unrelenting commitment to serving Lord Rama. Every cell of his body began to glow with ecstasy, and his entire body began radiating with a brilliant effulgence, like a golden sun.
This special kind of luminous presence upon connection with the Divine Lord represents the purity of mind, body, heart, and soul – a quality of a superior being, something that we all must strive to cultivate to combat the darkness of ignorance and negativity within us.
